Make Me Happy

Make me happy
Be the smile I carry through my days like a sacred charm,
An affirmation whispered between my ribs.
Be the joy in my seal,
So that I can wear you around my neck like sunlight caught in glass.

Be the reason I find peace laced with love,
The first to see my sun rise
let every moment be a prayer that breathes.
Melt my pain into rivers of everlasting joy,
Like the lotus, bloom pure tranquillity
in the mud that is my life.

Make my heart smile beyond a single dawn,
Make the fleeting eternal and blissful,
as timeless as breath.

Be the ocean that teaches my heart to move again,
Be the sky that forgives the rain.

Make me happy
for my days are covered in clouds of gloom,
shadows of the past that refuse to set with the sun.
I walk on lonely roads that echo my own mind,
corridors filled with could haves and should haves.

Make me happy,
so I can feel the calm of being alive once more
so I can push the darkness toward its own light,
so I can rise again like a winter sun,
warming the frost-bitten corners of my soul.

For despair, my sister,
wraps me in her storm-gray shawl
she hums lullabies of sorrow
and calls it love.

Make her drift toward dawn,
toward rays of unending happiness.
Make me happy,
because after all, I chose you.
